Kerstin is highly experienced in plastic, cosmetic and hand surgery. She started her journey 22 years ago in one of the largest plastic surgery centres in Europe (BG Ludwigshafen, Germany), and has been a successful Consultant in the UK within private practice for 16 years.

Kerstin's experience includes a breadth of plastic surgery including reconstruction with free tissue transfers, burn surgery, skin cancer surgery, body contouring and breast surgery, as well as hand surgery for all ages.

Kerstin has been in private practice in the UK since 2008. Currently she consults from a number of a locations in the West Midlands including Kat & Co, Spire Little Aston, Spire Parkway and Circle Priory Hospitals.

Kerstin has a specialist interest in the fields of cosmetic surgery, skin surgery, and hand and wrist surgery.

Qualifications:
Miss Oestreich graduated in 1995 from the historic University of Heidelberg/Mannheim in Germany, and did her surgical training internationally in Germany, Ireland and Singapore, qualifying as a General Surgeon in 2000, and as a Plastic Surgeon in 2006 in Germany.

Kerstin held a permanent NHS consultant post in Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery since 2007 in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Salisbury Foundation Trust Hospital, where her work included breast and skin pathologies as well as hand/wrist surgery. In 2014, she joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Since December 2022, Miss Oestreich works full time in private practice in the West Midlands.

Kerstin has regularly attended international meetings and courses to stay updated with the latest surgical trends. She has several accompanying qualifications within her clinical and managerial roles which include advanced ultrasound, laser, and safety in radiology imaging.

Alongside her surgical training, she has also completed a thesis and was awarded a Medical Doctorate in 1996 (Germany) and a further Master's degree in Healthcare Management in Germany in 2005 (Master of Science Healthcare Management). She received a degree in ‘European Healthcare Leadership’ at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau/ France. She was granted the award for the ‘Leadership Award Scheme’ by the Health Foundation in London/UK in 2008.

Kerstin  is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Surgery of the hand (BSSH).

Specialist Training:
Kerstin qualified for General Surgery in 2000 and her specialist training in Plastic Surgery in 2006 and Hand Surgery in 2007 in Germany. She is on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for General Surgery and Plastic Surgery since 2006. She further qualified in hand surgery in 2007 and had specialist training in wrist surgery in adults and children in 2008. Kerstin is further qualified in ‘Quality Management in Medicine’.
Management and Awards:
Kerstin received a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes), the most prestigious of its kind. For her achievements in Healthcare Management, she was granted the ‘Healthcare Leadership Award’ by the London Health Foundation in 2008, focussing on leadership of clinicians in all aspects of healthcare and management.

She established international links as a clinician and leader in healthcare being awarded and a fellow of the ‘European Healthcare Leadership Program’ of the prestigious business school INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. She continues to maintain a multi-professional network and has hosted an international conference in Salisbury in 2009.
Academic Activity:
Kerstin has been very active in her academic role and has published over 40 publications including original papers, bookchapters and review papers. Kerstin has been an invited speaker and faculty member in over 25 international meetings and over 50 presentations on a national and international level.
Teaching and Training:
Kerstin has always enjoyed inspiring more junior colleagues and is a certified Educational Supervisor for plastic surgery registrars and foundation year doctors. She has also been lecturer at Birmingham City University since 2015.
Private Life:
Kerstin is born in Germany and bilingual in German and English with dual citizenship. She is proud mother of her 19 year old son, who aspires to become a doctor. She enjoys traveling the world to remote and hidden places and tries to improve her golf swing, as well as her alpine skiing, in her free time. Her partner is Professor Tommy Lindau, Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon, who has his practice in the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in the Royal Derby Hospital as well as his private practice in Derby.
